Hello, My mother used to make what she called bucket pickles. It was a sweet pickle that she made by the bucket full. They took 7 -10 days to make. Afterward they never needed refrigeration. The bucket had a snap lid and was stored in a pantry. There was always a jar in the refrigerator or on the table. When the jar got low, We would just go to the pantry and refill it. Have you ever heard of this? I'd love to make them now. I was young and never learned to make them.

The presenter shows us only one view of the machine, the top, with only a partial and brief view of a side. We don't see the interior with or without the baking pan. We are told it is light and compact. Those are not necessarily desirable. A good electric motor is heavy. The wattage tells us more about the heating elements than about the motor. Most of the power is for the baking. The motor may not be as large as would be desirable. If too compact, the stainless steel sides will get quite hot. I did not notice any vents in the poor view offered of one side. I notice many appliance now to be made with cheaper materials. Some bread pans are not so heavy as has been true until recently. I did not find the video persuasive in paying more money for a Cuisinart than for an Elite Gourmet or an Amazon Basic.

I just put up 18 pints of apricot jam. $2.00 a lb for the fruit when buying in large quantities from a local farmer out of the Central Valley here in California. If I had a choice of only one fruit for jam it would be apricot. (I use my preserves to flavor my yogurt. Plus it makes nice gifts.)

I live in Fort Worth, Texas. There are a number of farmers markets around the Dallas/Fort Worth area and many of them have a combination of local produce and produce that’s been shipped in from other states like California or from far south Texas. However, the farmers market run by the city of Fort Worth has a requirement that everything sold at the market must be grown or made with 150 miles of Fort Worth. They go out periodically to check the different farms and processing locations (for things like syrup or jams) to make sure that the item is really grown or produced locally. I always prefer to go to that market because I know that the produce is local. Therefore, you never find pineapples or limes, but really good Texas produce such as tomatoes, and corn and peaches, all in season.

Farmer's Markets are fabulous but going to the farms for seasonal fruit is exciting. Unfortunately farms are dwindling in numbers. How much of the produce is local? Here, a by-product of the huge cherry pitter was juice that sold by the gallon. Great for arthritis. Can buy syrup in stores but just not the same. What fun you two have and I go down memory lane. Thanks!

Hello there! Firstly thank you, your video has so much information. I would like to ask your opinion on something: I live in Argentina and the brand Instant Pot is non-existent, but there is a pressure cooker that is an exact model, 1:1, to the FussionCook FC7 Smart, which you can adjust the temp up to 320 F°. Despite lacking the feet altitude and manual pressure level, it reaches the desired temp and goes beyond. Would it be safe to pressure can in that model?

Very informative video and easy to listen to. Top marks! However, I am not sure about your ph testing. If the tomato sauce is red and your test strip is yellowish, and the ph colour youre aiming for on the strip dipped in red tomato sauce, is orangey red... Does the redness of the tomato sauce impied the test results due to the effect it will have on the test strip because of its redness? You get a yellow or white piece of paper and dip in red tomato.puree, to check its ph level, and with the red tomato puree soaked paper you then put it against a colour graph and you hold it up and it matches orangey red? I couldnt believe that the piece of paper could match anything close to pure green. Or am i missing something?
